BTO garden birdwatch

We upload our bird sightings to the BTO garden birdwatch project and they posted this graphic of the birds seen in Springhill.

Unfortunately the range of birds seen has decreased in recent years. Whilst both the numbers birds and range of species decline in the summer, this seems to have been more marked since the trees were felled recently with passerine numbers being particularly badly hit. A recent count for the BTO had just one chaffinch, no tits, no robins, no other finches, no wren, no dunnocks…

The feeders which had to come down when the trees did have just been replaced. Hopefully this will attract some birds back to the area.
