52 residents #9 'disaster'

There has been little in the way of disasters to afflict Springhill in the usual sense of the word. It is not in an area prone to natural disasters and has never flooded, despite flooding down the adjacent Edge Lane in 1911:

flood edge lane

and more recently in 2012:

flood edge lane 1

there was little in the way of damage or flooding of actual properties in the area.

The second near-disaster was the Zeppelin attack in 1916 which dropped an incendiary bomb over Heightside House and an explosive bomb over Lea Bank House, both within half a mile of Springhill. Neither exploded, fortunately.
